This was a super fun project and one of my favorites! I loved seeing what could be made with those wood pile pieces at Hobby Lobby. Here are the materials that I used for this cute little clipboard. You can download the list here. Also, I have a very special download waiting for you at the end of this post!
I gave all the wood pieces a light sanding.
I used hot glue to attach all the wood pieces together. The popsicle stick gets glued to the back of the plaque and the candlestick piece gets glued to the base.
I used a cork stopper to connect the popsicle stick/plaque to the candlestick/base. I just cut a slit in the cork to receive the popsicle stick.
I secured the popsicle stick inside the cork and the cork inside the candlestick with hot glue.
Now it looks like something!
Here comes the details! I added an applique to the bottom of the plaque.
And, a finial to the top.
I painted the whole thing with an off white chalk paint.
A little more sanding for that distressed, shabby-chic look.
There was still so much detail that I wanted to bring out, so I did some “inking” with antiquing wax on all the edges and scroll work.
Now, the most important thing to make it a clipboard, the magnetic bull clip. I used the magnetic kind so I have a flat back to use for gluing it to the wooden plaque.
What do you think? Super cute, right?
I am using mine as a recipe holder in my kitchen.
Because I love you, I am giving you my favorite pecan pie recipe just in time for the holidays. You can download your recipe here.
You can watch me demonstrate how I made this super cute mini clipboard here during a Facebook Live.
